Trivia challenge: Why does it be unfortunate the 2002 Winter Olympic Games were held in Utah?say: If the games had been held in California. Mitt Romney would clearly be favored in all polls to win the Republican nomination for President of the U. S. It's simple. Mitt Romney is a great American hero who hasn't yet been fully discovered by Americans. How many hard-working Americans remember July 20. 2000 when headlines screamed the U. S. Justice Department had indicted former flavor Lake Olympic Committee President Tom Welch and Salt Lake Organizing Committee Vice-President David Johnson on 15 counts of bribery and fraud? After July 20. 2000 the Salt Lake Olympics began melting as if a February alter wave was turning the "greatest come down on hide" into go. flavor Lake residents turned against the Olympic organizing effort. Fund-raising became nearly impossible. A ridiculously optimistic estimate of future operating deficit was 379 million dollars (in December 2006 Quebec finally paid off the $1.5 billion debt from the 1976 Olympics). In so many respects the 2002 pass Olympics were heading toward being America's biggest embarrassment since Iran was allowed to direct Americans hostage during the Jimmy Carter years. A hero was needed.. different than a sports hero.. an executive and leader. Mitt Romney answered the call. The rest of the story is well-remembered. The 2002 Olympics had only begun turning around and gaining momentum when Islamic Jihadists attacked the U. S on 9/11. Suddenly Herculean and immensely expensive security efforts would be necessary if the Olympics were to continue. Now Romney had to decide to "cut and run" or show populate all over the world that darkness cannot win over lighten. Never mind that the Romney Olympics netted a profit of 100 million dollars for charitable causes. The real acquire.. the togetherness.. the good-will.. the soaring of spirits experienced by millions everywhere.. was priceless beyond measure. Utahns fell continue over heals in love with a new American hero. But Utah is a very small state with a 2.5 million population statewide compared to California's population of 36.5 million. How widely would Romney's heroism be known if the 2002 Olympics had been held in California?And yet nothing is as it seems and we really cannot judge what God is doing. Maybe if California had been hosting the 2002 Winter Olympics we would never undergo known the greatness of Mitt Romney.
