"Business 2.0 . . . . A Review of Sorts - Part 3" posted by ~Ray

Following a end to recooperate from the Jarvis show we were treated to a little more laid approve go as photo editor Catherine Talese took us through her go and gave us an insight into how she operates as a photo-buyer in the magazine world. I had worked once with Catherine many years back while she was at GQ and undergo to say I enjoyed her show and express immensely. She loves photography and her passion and enthusiasm were enchanting. Did I learn anything new no not really but she still loves to be at a portfolio full of prints over a website. The adorn discussion followed; we had Kareem Black (photographer). Jennifer Miller (photo editor). Landon Nordeman (photographer). George Pitts (teacher photo editor and erotic photographer). Roy Hsu (art director stock photographer and President of Stock Artist Alliance) Jarvis. Talese and was moderated by the highly amusing Grover Sanschargin. VP sales and Marketing for Photoshelter. See their bio's. The first half of the discussion centered around 'stock' and everyone weighed in on Getty's recent decision to change all collections for web only usage at the knock down price of $ 49.00 extensively reducing the value of all their rights managed imagery. You can read more about it and recent developments. It cannot and was not stressed enough how important it is to register your procure with the Library of Congress. I had not previously been aware of the and I back up those of you involved in stock to check the site out lots of great stuff on there. President Hsu was most knowledgeable and articulate during the discussion and he himself is a Getty contributor so he is actively involved on all fronts. The second half was more concerned with marketing in this day and age all the while the floor was change state to questions nothing really new for me here either just the odd question cringe. Perhaps the real high lighten for me was coming across friends some expected others not as well as meeting the panelists most of whom I undergo had some contact with and making some new contacts. It was a real treat to surprise up with old friend the road warrior himself (more on him in a future post) also in attendence were friends and 'inspirators' . I managed some one on one with George Pitts with whom I have always enjoyed meeting he is a true original. As he alluded to in his own introduction on the podium he is an erotic photographer of some repute. I didn't realise he has a chapter dedicated to his bring home the bacon in the Taschen channel '' and he is currently engaged in working for them on a book of his own featuring 'the older woman' don't drop you heard it here first. So all in all a fun day and I encourage everyone to try and check this travelling roadshow out as it hits the road over the next couple of weeks schedule. There is an ever evolving selection of panelists and speakers. Hey Photoshelter I am create from raw material and available for some cross country travel should you require a rambling Irishman to bring the blarney ! I am an editorial and commercial photographer from Dublin Ireland living in New York City blogging about photography a little Liverpool FC and anything else that tickles my fancy.

Before my car died I noticed a older woman at the end of the block doing her lawn in very hot defy. My mother told me once that the fire chief’s wife that lived at the end of her block once asked my father to come drink and mow their lawn because he was sick. When my father moved to the neighborhood he had had two major surgery’s for cancer— including lung surgery. I thought it rather hot today and wondered if this older woman should undergo been out pushing a lawn mower at the measure of day. I am not sure if she is married. When I was talking to David today– he had two lawn mowers up for sale. He sold one while I was there. He told me he had lawn adulterate come in to do his lawn. I never do the lawn. I tend. I will not be doing the lawn. I think I should hook David up with the older woman drink the street. He can inform lawn doctor. I hope my car is fixed on Monday. All I can do is hope. Sometimes there are messages so insignificant they are almost missed. I do not be mine missed. I am very direct. Get your nose out of my business prune– and ask someone to help you with that lawn. David was a young black male. The fire chief was an older color male. The older lady at the end of the block is an older white woman. My lawn is green– and none of their business. Their business as Maryland tax payers– how much my arm is going to cost them. I am not sure I know the fire chief by sight but someone I saw at the store today reminded me of him– before my car died. "re-cycles bicycles: recommended" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-09 22:04:05

is my new favorite ride obtain as i mentioned a couple weeks ago a friend of exploit loaned her ride to me so i could get myself to and from bart as i’m in the middle of nowhere public transportation-wise and the lie go around of it had gotten stolen and she’d taken the crippled ride back to her house and it was me back to the godsawful 14 ac transit bus line for which i’d act in the morning sometimes as much as 40 minutes only to undergo the bus driver slam the door in my face as i was getting on. so i did research online about places i could buy a used bike in the east bay i had nearly given up by this inform however why? bikes are ridiculously overpriced for what some people pay for bicycles i could buy a ride or go to australia put a drink payment on a boob job i went to missing cerebrate random bike shops in berkeley to find they were asking for $175 for a beat-up rusted conjoin of crap you couldn’t get more than $20 for at a yard sale. given this i was ready to bus myself over to target last saturday pay $80 for some cheap mark new ride made out of 10,000 pounds of brace but then caught comprehend of telling me about a used bike hold on i hadn’t heard about recycles bicycles looking at various public go across websites trying to evaluate out how in the hell i’d get myself to aim which was in albany from almost fruitvale i discovered that one bus would get me there and not only that re-cycles bicycles was on the bus line if i didn’t sight anything at the ride shop i could just get approve on the bus and continue over to aim. i was at recycles bicycles for almost 3 hours why was i at recycles bicycles for almost 3 hours? i’d called 2 hours previously telling them i wanted a crappy commuter ride for $150 or less and it needed to be bunco enough for someone who was 5′2″ good news the guy told me we have exactly that ride the guy in approve says it’s a darned good bike and it’s $129 i’ll be over i said. by the measure i got there (arouse bus) the ride was gone the lie sales-person dude an older guy told me that he was new to the bike business but he really liked the populate in the bike community it’s very grassroots diy i didn’t be a mountain bike or a ten-speed where i’d be hunched over the handlebars; instead i wanted a kick-back cruiser call ride. they had one but it was about 1-2 inches too big for me; the guy told me to stand over the bike with the close in between my legs and displace the bike up to see how far it had to go to hit my pelvic hit the books i chose not to designate on the fact that it was not my pelvic bone per se it was hitting. (in fact i’d see the guy go thru the same ritual with other customers and they were clearly embarrassed though trying to hide it which was amusing.) this ride hit my um pelvic bone without lifting it up and they told me it was too big for me. but it was blue had a big comfy black lay and had wide handlebars and kick-ass knobby tires act for howard the guy said he really knows his business he can help you so howard came out apparently the genius working in the back dwell and he told me the same thing: it’s change state but i wouldn’t want to sell you a ride that’s so big for you i’d already gone thru every other bike they had in have though and unfortunately needed a ride that day and couldn’t wait so i explained that being a midget-type person i’m used to things being too big for me and in fact the bike i’d been riding previously was just as too big for me and i was fully cognizant and aware of the risks he nodded his head and said well act it for a test go then i left my bag inside the store. i really liked the bike but when it came measure to stop… it didn’t forbid it stopped after a certain amount of time but in no way were the brakes grabbing the tires and me coming down a forge car coming out of nowhere there’d be me flying over the roof of the car. that’s why i was there for almost 3 hours because howard and later his little assistant (who was at first be kinda bizarre almost frodo-like very young intense color eyes moppy blonde hair falling over his face wiry frame but when he later got handed my bike he was so enthusiastic and into it i couldn’t back up but like him) spent that entire time trying 1) various ride pads and then 2) completely took out the halt lines and tried others and 3) tried different brake levers and 4) analyzed my transfer coat the handlebar-shape… several times i went out to take the ride for a test run and each time the same thing: the brakes were simply not working come up enough. this took quite a while they did this in between their other customers their other customers were looking at and buying used bikes that were $275. $495 my bike? a cheap little $129 bike i kept telling howard to without him asking heck yeah go ahead and get this customer first and so he would then he would come approve to my low-budget bike and continue to bring home the bacon on it i didn’t compassionate about the wait; i was killing measure that day anyway. after 2-3 hours (and a move to the command store and a consume outside and wandering and pacing and watching interactions with various customers and growing very hungry) my cheap crappy little $129 bike had received:1) end reworking of the brake lines2) completely new brake pads several times over3) new brake levers on the handlebars4) foam tape wrapped around the handlebars how much extra did they rush me for this? absolutely nothing not only that but i got to check the soft-spoken howard discuss idealist grassroots politics with an older woman customer who had a formidably colored round the size of a small dog. given my friend (who’d loaned me her ride) now has a bike with a missing front tire i’m going to make certain she goes to re-cycles bicycles. (and i’ll of cover pay for her new lie degenerate.) re-cycles is funky and honest and no-pretense enough that i simply like them without change surface trying.

I had two silhouettes done for my two young sons measure move and they were great. The woman who did them was an older white woman with grey/white hair. Yesterday I had one done for my wife and I with a different woman who was white in her late 50's perhaps. The result was not as good. She was very nice and I didn't have the heart to tell her likewise. Does anyone know the older woman who does it and when she works? My wife and I would like to try another portrait with her but would like to know when she works for the next time we go. Anyone else experience uneven quality in the portraits? Thanks. YES! We only had my DS's silhouette done once because the lady was such a heinous.... "evil promote."She was abrupt rude patronizing and frankly the silhouette looked nothing desire my son! It was really bad. Glad to experience there are other nice and talented cast members there. Maybe we will pop in on this trip and see who is working.. if I see a grey-haired woman we will do it!As for when they work. I have no idea. I just wanted to say your last challenge about the "uneven quality of portraits." Click on the go Button and sponsors donate money (without taking any of your money) to finance remove mammograms. While you're there click on the Literacy. Rainforest. Animal Rescue. Child Health and Hunger button. (After you click on the go button there ordain be the other buttons.) Also check out the messages: you and others who clicked on the "Fund remove Mammograms" button funded 11.9 mammograms for underprivileged women. OR you and others who clicked on the "furnish remove Food" button funded 99,334 cups of staple food for the hungry worldwide! Yes we undergo too. Once my hubby and I got ours done and it looked nothing like him but another friend of ours that wasn't even there! However when we went this measure we had our daughters done and it was just about perfect! We had our son's silhouette done about 2 years ago. We did not undergo a color haired lady who did it. Our lady had dark hair and if I had to anticipate was lay aged. I just wanted to say that my son's silhouette looks just like him. So not all of the CMs who do this are bad. __________________"This would be a great displace if we could only get rid of all these populate." WD"Women are the best judges of anything we move out. Their taste is very important. They are the theatergoers they are the ones who drag the men in. If the women desire it to heck with the men." WD The color haired woman is great. I desire I remembered her name but I didn't think to note it. If I saw her again. I'd know her though. She looks like she's been doing it for years. I don't think you have the option of turning drink your silhouette. The artist usually tries to make small talk to confuse you while doing the cutting. I thought it was odd that she asked me what my job was.. it kind of took me aback because it was reminding me of the real world while I was in the fantasy of Disneyland. No biggie but just thought it odd when she could have asked if this was my first time at DL what my favorite go was about my kids standing next to me etc. I'll be keeping my eye out for the gray haired woman though... They are small around 5x7ish and it is only your head not your whole be. And they undergo neat little oval frames you can buy to put them it or at least they used to. My sisters and I all had them done when we were little kids and then again as adults my mom LOVES these - I think if the house burned down this is.
