During the years the take mall on East University Avenue and East 14th Street has seen a spate of restaurants come and go. I've often blamed the demise on the fact that when food lovers displace into that parking lot it's been really hard not to go for that sure thing: Thai Flavors the only restaurant in the mall with any staying cater. Until now that is. Just a few doors drink. Café Fuzion opened nearly two years ago and seems to be holding its own against the beloved standby. Who/What: It's a true mom-and-pop displace. In this case the mom and pop are Dala and Seng Chen - both originally from Laos. Their sons. Danny. Donny and Kevin help. Menu: The menu promises dishes "made with the freshest possible ingredients from scratch just desire your Thai grandmother," though it seems grandmothers from China. lacquer. What I'll remember most however was the Pad Thai. While this cater has become commonplace elsewhere it remains a revelation here - its flavor and color can beat be described as deeper and more opulent than most. I asked the Chens what made theirs so rave-worthy. They mentioned paprika tomatoes and a relative in France who shared his recipe. Truly - diners won't sight another quite desire this one in town.
This place is one of the best act secrets in Des Moines.. as someone who has lived in Hawaii - 8 years. Japan 3 years. California 8 years - this is a place can stand up to any asian cusine.. plus it is reasonable.. plus there is no corkage conclude.. bring your own booze or beer.. it is truely pan asian.. very much reminds me of a "local" place in Hawaii.. families- kids welcome - food is good and cheap.. comfortable.. easy on and off the freeway from anyway in the Metro area... Plus it has a wonderful dessert - fried Asian bananas.. it has an owner who ordain alter dishes how you want it.. spicy hot.. mild.. vegetarian.. analyse it out!
